Bu ilkin ku\u015flar, dinozor atalar\u0131ndan kendilerine miras kalan di\u015flere ve uzun, kemikli kuyruklara sahipti. T&uuml;yler, t&uuml;m dinozor gruplar\u0131nda g&ouml;r&uuml;len ama zamanla baz\u0131lar\u0131nda kaybedilmi\u015f olan ortak bir &ouml;zelliktir. Bir&ccedil;ok u&ccedil;amayan dinozor fosilinde t&uuml;y veya t&uuml;y benzeri yap\u0131 g&ouml;zlemlenmi\u015ftir. Modern ku\u015flar\u0131n u&ccedil;u\u015f t&uuml;ylerine benzeyen ger&ccedil;ek t&uuml;yler yaln\u0131zca Maniraptora grubunda bulunur; u&ccedil;an s&uuml;r&uuml;ngenler olan pterosaurlarda ise <em>piknofiber<\/em> denilen t&uuml;y benzeri yap\u0131lar vard\u0131r. 1990&rsquo;l\u0131 y\u0131llardan itibaren d&uuml;zinelerce dinozor cinsine ait t&uuml;yl&uuml; (veya t&uuml;y benzeri yap\u0131ya sahip) dinozor fosili ke\u015ffedilmi\u015ftir. T&uuml;yl&uuml; dinozorlar ile modern ku\u015flar aras\u0131ndaki bir ge&ccedil;i\u015f fosili say\u0131lan ve yakla\u015f\u0131k 150 milyon y\u0131l &ouml;nce ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f olan <em>Archaeopteryx<\/em>, dinozorlar ile ku\u015flar\u0131n ortak k&ouml;kenine i\u015faret eden ilk &ouml;rneklerdendir. <em>S. deserti<\/em> isimli bir theropod dinozor fosili &uuml;zerinde yap\u0131lan &ccedil;al\u0131\u015fmalar, bu fosilde, ku\u015f t&uuml;ylerindeki ana protein olan beta-keratin bulundu\u011funu g&ouml;stermi\u015ftir. T&uuml;ylerin narin yap\u0131lar\u0131 nedeniyle zor fosille\u015fiyor olmas\u0131, fosil kay\u0131tlar\u0131nda t&uuml;yl&uuml; dinozor say\u0131s\u0131ndaki g&ouml;rece azl\u0131\u011f\u0131n nedeni olabilir.
